Description
This module focuses on understanding key 21st century challenges (globalisation, managing the triple bottom line, new technology and high performance work systems) and how human resources processes and organisational behaviour theories can provide insights to address them. It examines the business organisation in terms of structure, process behavior, work psychology from a managerial perspective, and provides a comprehensive and critical understanding of how human resources contribute to a firm's competitive advantage.
Objectives
After the training the participant will be able to:
demonstrate a critical theoretical understanding of human resources and organisational behaviour management as used in practice
be capable of framing the organisational phenomenon within a larger context of continuous sustainable development and increasing technology use
analyse and evaluate individual, group and organisational behaviours for effective management.
Programme
Session 1 : Evidence-based approach to HR/OB
Session 2 : Personality, Perceptions and Attitudes
Session 3 : Emotions, Motivation and Reward
Session 4 : Job Design
Session 5 : Workplace Stress and Technology
Each session will be divided in short (30 mins) and lively sequences. These sequences will either be interactive lectures, case studies, real life examples, experiential activities, simulations, discussions, or group presentations. Class discussion should be grounded on students’ experience.
