Description

Description

An organisational strategy should direct various activities in management, such as Finance, Marketing, Human Resources or Supply Chain Management, in a way that the organisation can develop and progress to achieve its future objectives. This module examines processes to facilitate strategic thinking and trigger strategic initiatives within an organisation, particularly where various technological and social changes are urging them to be concerned about their own future. It offers another approach to defining a strategic direction. Developing dynamic scenarios is an approach to elaborate new strategies that allow more flexibility in implementation. Scenarios provide insights as to how organisations can engage with uncertain, complex and ambiguous operating environments to develop creative and robust strategies through the exploration of alternative narratives and “storying”. The module offers an understanding of the role of “strategising” (on-going strategic reflection process) and of strategic conversations in organisations. Concepts and tools of strategic analysis will help to collect, examine and evaluate relevant information, which then needs to be consolidated in a coherent discourse, including the necessary critical distance, to serve as base for future corporate or business strategies.

  • demonstrate a critical understanding of the fundamental underlying principles and tools in strategic management necessary for strategy analysis and corporate planning and problem solving

  • appraise an organisation's objectives and governance structure
