Innovation Management is part of our International MBA and can be taken independently. 

This course explores the key challenges of innovation in contemporary organizations, with a strong focus on customer- and user-centered approaches.

Participants will learn to apply Design Thinking principles to identify and develop products and services that effectively address user needs and expectations. The course introduces essential concepts such as Jobs to Be Done, Pretotyping, and the Business Model Canvas, all integrated within a Design Thinking / Lean framework. Practical exercises and project-based learning ensure that students can apply these methodologies to real-world innovation challenges.

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop a critical perspective on innovation management and organizational change dynamics,

  • Apply concrete tools for managing innovation and transformation, including:

    • Understanding and implementing the “Jobs to Be Done” concept within a project context,

    • Applying the steps of Design Thinking effectively,

    • Engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders in co-construction processes,

    • Designing and building a pretotype,

    • Identifying and developing viable business models,

    • Assessing success or failure in innovation and change processes using a multidimensional approach,

  • Conduct user research (interviews and observations) to identify customer needs, expectations, and stakeholder perspectives,

  • Manage an innovation project end-to-end, from ideation to implementation, ensuring user-centered approaches and active stakeholder involvement throughout.

The course develops participants’ innovation and project management skills by covering:

  • Foundations of Innovation Management: Principles and challenges of contemporary product and service innovation,

  • Design Thinking Methodology: Step-by-step framework for user-centered problem solving, ideation, prototyping, and testing,

  • Innovation Tools: Jobs to Be Done, Pretotyping, and Business Model Canvas for structured project development,

  • User Research Methods: Techniques for interviewing, observing, and understanding user and stakeholder needs,

  • Project-Based Learning: Managing an innovation project from start to finish with iterative testing and stakeholder engagement,

  • Assessment & Evaluation: Methods to evaluate innovation outcomes and identify lessons for continuous improvement.
