Introduction
Following a top-down approach, deriving from the international standards from the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), to the European Banking Authority guidelines (EBA) and the Luxembourg specific banking regulation, the course highlights how risk management processes are crucial in the banking industry and provides a detailed overview of Risk Appetite Statements and their pragmatic consideration into risk tactics and risk reporting towards the Board of Directors and Executive Management.
The course covers the various responsibilities of the entire Non-Executive/ Executive Management spectrum and commercial, support and control functions across the 3 Lines model. The course also considers the recent trends and evolutions of business and operating models within the banking industry run their key projects, manage their ESG risks or decide to outsource some of their activities to third parties.
Practical exercises are integrated to enable participants concretely practice some of the analytical tools disclosed.
Objectives
As part of the global certification program of the House of Training and ABBL in Risk Management in banking, this course aims at developing participants’ understanding of sound corporate governance, proper organisation and risk management in banking institutions. The main objective of this Module of the Risk Management Certification programme in banking is to take participants through the practical transposition of governance guiding principles and risk management processes into a bank.

Course Material
Please note that for environmental reasons no paper version of the training material will be provided for your training. The course material can be downloaded free of charge via your portal before the start of the course (download the Client Portal User’s Guide here). You will be able to view it on the screen of your mobile device or print it if necessary. If your registration has been made by a training manager of your company please contact him/her so that he/she can give you access to it or send it to you.
Exam
For this training course, an optional exam is available. In case of interest, candidates can choose a date from the list of proposed examination sessions. Registration for the exam must be made at least five days before the chosen exam date. The exam is subject to a registration fee.
The examination consists of true/false and multiple-choice questions. To pass the exam, a candidate must achieve a score of at least 50% of the total points on the exam.
Certificate
